Numerical modelling of slope stabilization with xathan gum-treated soil

Biopolymer soil treatment has been introduced as the latest technological innovation in stabilization and improvement. Biopolymers with agar, guar, xanthan, casein, gellan sodium alginate have commonly studied to improve strength, reduce hydraulic conductivity prevent erosion of highly permeable materials. Among those, xanthan gum is perform better terms lowering permeability. In this study, effect on slope stability under rainfall was evaluated via a 2D finite-difference program (FLAC) considering wetting behavior gum-treated soil. order obtain input parameters for numerical modelling, soil-water characteristic tests, permeability direct shear tests were conducted soils.
